THANK YOU, DR. KING.

As a product of your dream, Dr King, alongside those dreams of so many other men and women of color - I am reminded and humbled daily by the full measure of your enduring influence and sacrifice. Indeed, for myself and countless others, the world we know today would not exist, had your voice and your effort not urged America to look closely at itself, to accept its plurality, and to right its course.

Consequently, I thank you for your audacious vision of a Republic made better by celebrating and harnessing its diversity. I thank you for your unflinching courage in the face of those resistant to, or indifference about, change. And I thank you for your expansive kindness that sought to lift all men from the throes of poverty and despair.

We have further to go, in order to perfect the dream manifested in our lifetimes, but we have come so very far, indeed. And we owe every step in our progress made towards racial and social justice, heretofore and hereinafter, to your great memory.
